Alexa Chastain is a single career woman who owns a law office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She’s content with her steady, predictable life. That is until she stumbles across Devon Munroe, a tall, hazel-eyed hunk of a businessman who is the legal representative opposing her sister Karyn. Though she’d prefer to ignore the brash, sandy-haired Munroe, she has no choice but to deal with him.
As tempers flare and sexual attraction crackles, Alexa and Devon compete to see who’ll come out on top in a competition involving wills, weddings and familial warfare.
HIDDEN FIRE is a novel featuring lightning-quick dialogue, deep sensuality and intriguing characters set in the Rocky Mountains. More than just a romance, HIDDEN FIRE offers a taste of mystery and suspense in a tale involving the sons of the wealthy Munroe family empire—all set against the backdrop of Pikes Peak in Colorado’s second-largest city.

Ah, lawyers in love make an interesting story and Star Ferris did a beautiful job in this book. I loved the bickering and passion between Alexa and Devon. They definitely have chemistry and man when they're together it's easy to see the love between them. Though he was born with wealth you can tell he is not all about money but is all about family. Alexa is just like him but they deny what they have in common. I loved the way the story line went smoothly between them. Great job, Star.

I subtracted stars from the potential five for a variety of reasons. First of all, I subtracted 1/2 a star for the writing quality. There were a significant number of typos, poor grammar, run on sentences and general awkward wording to subtract from the enjoyment for me. This work needs a good editing so fix problems and smooth it out.I subtracted 1/2 a star for the love scenes. Well mostly for the first one. The second one wasn't great but the first one was just so awkward I found myself laughing quite inappropriately.
The biggest problem for me, however, was the nonsensical plot elements. Warning, this paragraph contains SPOILERS. There were a number of contrived elements that just didn't logically work. Alexa is a lawyer who is fighting the prenuptial agreement her sister is being asked to sign. It is the father and other brother who want it, not the groom. They spoke of settling it in probate court, which makes no sense since the father had not died yet. Then Devon (the other brother) is in an accident and suffers complete amnesia. Suddenly, while still having no memory, he is able to return to the helm of a multinational corporation. What!? Then, when a young child is in life threatening condition, in an ICU unit, a doctor actually allows the child to be flown to another city in a plane that is not equipped for life transport. Nobody would be stupid enough to move a child in that fragile condition. Again, what!?! This is where the story lost the other 1.5 stars. There were others, but these are the main three. I just couldn't get past these problems. This left me at 2.5 stars but I rounded up.
